Pont Aven
The popular town of Pont-Aven has been inhabited by many painters since its discovery by an American painter in the 1860‘s. It soon became the residence of a colony of extremely cosmopolitan artists and reached the height of its fame in 1886 with the creation of a painting school which featured Gauguin, Bernard and Sérusier among its artists. This is a wonderful place to explore and discover the architecture, river and water mills that inspired these famous artists. There are beautiful walks to guide you to the best vantage points where you will find information plaques. You can also explore this area by canoe. One can hire canoes of all shapes and sizes.
